In a recent interview, Jackie Gillies from the Real Housewives of Melbourne reveals that she's in the process of legally protecting her infamous catch phrase 'Shine Shine Shine" and dishes on what we can expect from the new season.
Gillies opens up about her infamous catch phrase.
“Do you know what’s hilarious, I’ve been saying that for the last 12 to 13 years,” she told news.com.au. “It’s a reference to sending positive energy back to the universe and not taking on any negativity and now I’ve got so many beautiful people screaming it out to me when I’m at the shopping centre and I think it’s beautiful that they’re sending their blessings.
“I’m in the process of getting it trademarked.”
When asked to describe the new season of RHOMelbourne, Gillies said at times it made her feel like she’d been “hit over the head with a baseball bat”, she can’t wait to see the show to debut on Foxtel’s Arena.
Gillies admits the introduction of two new housewives, Gamble Breaux and Pettifleur Berenger and the exit of Andrea Moss has created a whole new dynamic within the group.
“The group definitely has changed, it’s been a very interesting ride, they’ve (Gamble and Pettifleur) shaken things up a lot, and I don’t think they knew what they were getting into! You know, things come out in people’s past that they don’t necessarily want to come out and fame is a funny thing, you start to see people change.
“For me it’s really important to remember where you come from,” the Newcastle, NSW native added. “A lot of people ask me ‘oh my God, what's it like being on TV and going to red carpets and glamorous events’ and I’m like ‘that doesn’t define me’. It’s been interesting to see how that has changed some of the ladies and I’ve been blown away by it to be honest.”
Gillies, who's the youngest of the housewives at 34, says the two new women have certainly been well cast and while there is just as much drama, tension and tears in the second season, there’s more “resolution” this time round.
“At the end of day you might be all hanging out and sometimes you get dragged into situations and conversations you wouldn’t normally find yourself in and you have to give your opinion and it looks like you’re bitching when you’re not. But I said to the girls, I’ve never bitched, gossiped and talked so much BS in my life before I went on this show.
On how people have received her
“At the end of the day I think I’ve been well received. I’ve had a lot of support and a great following online and that following comes from who I am as a person, rather than portraying someone else. If people love who I am as a person then I want to keep on inspiring people. I knew being a psychic that I’d be put up for ridicule, it’s not the normal thing, but if I can inspire people to be themselves and love themselves, then I’m doing my job.”
Gillies has been keeping busy expanding her LaMascara brand, recently branching out into a range of alcoholic iced teas called High Tea.
And as for the juiciest thing we can expect from the new season?
“There’s going to be something that comes up where there is a massive, massive blow up that I think people will be really surprised by,” she said. “I was in shock, I was just sitting on chair laughing at the whole situation, going ‘what the f was that?’”
