As we reported, a former bartender and waiter claim the reality star’s restaurant, Angelo’s of Mulberry St. in New York, owes them each $2,500 in “unpaid wages and overtime, uniform cleaning costs.”
Teresa describes the former employees as “disgruntled” and tells Real Mr. Housewife, “desperate times … desperate people … leads to desperate measures,” reports RumorFix.
The Bravo reality star explains, “Angelo’s of Mulberry Street, a family business, has been around for 100 years. This establishment is not just any restaurant, in fact, it has become an institution that represents ‘Little Italy’ on Mulberry Street. Its doors have welcomed thousands of families, celebrities, dignitaries and presidents of this country throughout the years.”
“Anyone that has frequented Angelo’s can clearly see that we operate as one big family and are all so happy to be a part of this historic restaurant. Many of our employees, including waiters and kitchen staff, have been with us for over 25 years. Angelo’s treats its employees not like workers, but like family.”
“This restaurant has given many immigrants opportunities they have always dreamed of … many have gone on to open their own successful businesses after getting their best training and experience on these premises. In all these years we have only had beautiful relationships with all those who have worked with us.”
Teresa can’t talk specifically about the lawsuit, but adds, “Two disgruntled employees do not and will not define Angelo’s of Mulberry Street. Reasons for their dismissal cannot be discussed at this time because this matter is in arbitration. Unfortunately, desperate times… desperate people … leads to desperate measures.”
