The Real Housewives of New York star Kristen Taekman shares how the show has impacted her marriage and gives update on her daughter's Kingsley's development.
Putting your life on display for the world to see isn't the easiest thing in the world—especially when it comes to your family. Just ask Kristen Taekman, who experienced it first-hand as the newcomer on last season's Real Housewives of New York.
One thing that took a toll thanks to the show was her marriage to husband Josh Taekman, as viewers watched the couple spar on-screen. But Kristen admitted that watching it actually helped the two work things out. "The show was wonderful therapy," she told OK! Magazine. "Our marriage is more balanced than viewers might think."
And heading into her second season on the show, it's better than ever. "It's nice to see both sides of an argument," she tells All Things Real Housewives. "We both had lots to work on and it's made us stronger!"
Also gaining strength since last season? Kristen's daughter Kingsley, who viewers watched struggle developmentally, especially when to came to learning how to walk. But don't expect to see that side of her this season!
"Kingsley is doing great!" Kristen says. "She started walking about a year ago. She is in school and is not my baby anymore."
Although it's unclear what kind of drama is going to unfold this season, one thing Kristen assures is for her marriage and family to continue to thrive, on and off-camera.
"Josh and I are a normal couple with not-normal careers. What you see on the screen is who we are. And we are a lot stronger than a reality show," she says. "Team Taekman all the way! With twelve years, two kids, and one season of reality TV under our belts, we are in it for the long haul."
