Kristen Taekman is taking to her Bravo Blog to dish on this week's episode of The Real Housewives of New York City. Kristen weighs in on the Heather/Luann argument and talks about her spat with Bethenny. Kristen writes:
"It's official: Every new cast member is required to have some crazy breakdown on the trip that we all take together. It honestly feels like some sort of hazing process. How could we forget Montana last year...Poor Dorinda reached her limit at the "F---" dinner. Too much to drink, too many ladies. She was just exhausted.
Ramona! When she was butting in with Heather and Dorinda when she missed the whole incident and wanted to try and fix it was unacceptable! Ramona is either stirring the pot and walking away or butting in where she is not wanted!
Heather is really such a “momma” in the best possible way. She is really calm and sweet and nurturing when she realizes that Dorinda is upset and really takes her under her wing and tries to help her!
Oh man, this whole "be cool, don’t be all uncool" situation is the worst. I was just waking up when I heard all the commotion. Dorinda and I were watching it all unfold from above. I went downstairs and spoke to the house boy and he told me the whole story including that the guy was married and about how the ladies were trashed and met these guys, etc. I'm like a freakin' detective.
Listen...I have been married for a very long time. I don’t remember the “rules” about hooking up with men on vacation. Maybe because that was never the reason I went on vacation. The issue that Heather had, I completely agree and understand where she was coming from. Leaving your house guest unattended was not right. By all means, screw the guy, have him spend the night, whatever you want...but keep him to yourself...no one needed to see his penis that early in the morning. Furthermore, he should not be up, kicking back, drinking juice on the sofa alone! The real issue here that everyone is missing is that RAMONA, once again, is the one that started all of this! The unattended man was RAMONA'S! Why is this argument between Heather and Lu? RAMONA! Ok…The more I thought about it later on, we all had jewelry with us and he could have done any number of things. It's just not cool. Heather was in shock and very, very mad. It looked to me as if Carole was along for the ride. Sonja needs to teach Ramona a thing or two...she is a bit green to the game.
I have been involved with Smiletrain for a few years. I have always wanted to get involved with a charity, and it was hard to find the right fit. Smiletrain was the right fit! Smiletrain provides cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries for children all over the world. They not only provide the surgeries, but they provide speech therapy, dental work, financial aid, and education for the residents of the different countries. At this moment, Smiletrain has provided free cleft surgery for children in 87 countries, which is astounding. They have an amazing philosophy. They provide local doctors with the tools they need to be self-sustaining and efficient so that they can do these simple, life-changing surgeries on their own. Not only does this create jobs in developing countries, but it changes the lives of the people who receive the surgeries.
This past January, I went to Mexico with Smiletrain. What a truly life-changing experience! We started in Mexico City and then went down to one of the suburbs. I cannot even begin to tell you what I experienced. I got to meet patients before surgery, during surgery, in recovery, and then the next day in their homes. We also met patients that had their surgery years ago. This whole experience was beyond eye-opening. Having children, I could not imagine not being able to help out my own. For as little as $250, you can change a child's life and provide a smile. To see my my life changing trip to Mexico click here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7naHZ8iBvo
When I returned home to the madness of the ladies, I really wanted to share my experience and help to raise money for these wonderful children in need. Also, I love a good theme party, so I got to thinking about themes and the fact that this surgery costs around $250, which is coincidentally around the price of a great pair of jeans! Heather and Yummie had just launched a new denim line, and she offered to donate a bunch of jeans with 100% of the proceeds going to Smiletrain! How amazing is that! Heather truly rocks!
I thought that it would be cute to have the girls decorate the jeans, so we could then auction them off for Smiletrain! I went to a fabric store to buy all the needed supplies and when I was at the store buying the goodies, it occurred to me that I didn’t have the right tools for the jeans. The guy at the store said that you could use an ice pick! I figured, if anyone had an ice pick (à la Basic Instinct), it would be these Upper East Side ladies. I needed help with the ice pick, hot glue gun, and a bedazzler. Doesn’t anyone in this group DIY?
I was thrilled that all of the ladies decided to come to my event, putting aside all of our current differences! The event started off great as the ladies were getting into it. Heather kicked butt right away! OMG Dorinda took the coasters from the table and sewed them on the butt of her jeans?! LOL.
Each pair of jeans really showed the personality of each of the women which was kinda fun.
Damn, the Heather and Luann thing escalated just when I thought we were in the clear with Heather and Dorinda. Nope! Those two seem to have a whole other thing going on.
P.S. Has anyone else noticed how much Carole has thrown me under the bus lately? #notcool
A few months ago, I attended an event and got interviewed for it. Of course, any and every time I get interviewed about the show, the first set of questions is about Bethenny. At the time, when the reporter asked me these questions, Bethenny had been very dismissive of me. I had tried to get to know her, to be nice, and I wasn’t getting much in return…This reporter kept prying, and I may have said a bit too much but to be honest, none of it was bad. I think it's safe to say that there have been far worse things written about Bethenny. At the time when I said, "You can’t judge a book by its cover," I meant that she is known to be a real bitch, and I was thinking that she wasn’t that bad. Despite it all, there were moments that I felt that she was really sweet inside, even in spite of everything she is going through. That was all, it really wasn’t that big of a deal. The other women have put many things out in the press about me, and even much more about Bethenny that did not come from me.
Yes, it was in quotes, and I own it. I said it, and I stand by it. You can’t judge a book by its cover!"
