During Sunday night's of The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 9 premiere episode, Cynthia Bailey got candid about wanting a divorce from Peter Thomas (something she confirmed earlier this year). Now, Cynthia's co-star Kandi Burruss is sharing her thoughts on the former couples split.
"I was sad about Peter and Cynthia breaking up. At that point, it's like now Todd and I are the only couple on the show, period. None of the other people are in relationships," she told The Daily Dish. "So Peter and Cynthia, we're used to hanging out with them just like we did with Apollo and Phaedra. But Peter was just cool, man. He was just so funny. He was laid back. He was fun, outspoken. So I'm really gonna hate that they're not together. But people have to do what's best for them and I respect that. I just hate that another one bites the dust [be]cause I know that everyone says that reality TV and relationships can't work. Don't bring that negativity over here to our marriage, but I really hate that things couldn't work out for them. It's a lot of pressure them being on this show... it's a lot."
During Sunday's episode, Cynthia shared that infidelity did not contribute to their split. Kandi also addressed any rumors about cheating in that relationship during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Sunday. She revealed that in part, the split was caused because of the pair working together in the restaurant industry and also being married. "OK, the rumors that, at least the one's that we heard were from Porsha [Williams]. She never gave any receipts. Nobody has ever come forward to say, ‘Oh yeah, I was the one talking to him.’ And normally, especially because we're in the public eye, somebody is going to come, 'I was messing with your man,' or they want to show you pictures," Kandi shared about the cheating allegations. "They like to be able to put you on blast for being with your man. That's never happened. She put all that out there and has still has yet to say where the information, who's the girl, a picture, a text, or something."
When Kandi spoke to The Daily Dish, she shared that the decision to go their separate ways was Cynthia's choice. "It definitely was Cynthia. Peter, he didn't want the divorce. He wanted to work the relationship out," she said. "But she felt the way that she felt, and you have to be happy. And if she wasn't happy, then she had to do what's best."
