Last week, the entire cast of The Real Housewives of Auckland were spotted together at an event hosted by cast member Gilda Kirkpatrick, as she launched her second educational children's comic book titled Astarons.
The event will be seen in the upcoming New Zealand reality series, as cameras were all over the event.
Other celebrities in attendance included real estate agents Michael Boulgaris and Ricky Cave, former Bachelorettes Chrystal Chenery and Naz Khanjani, and actress Teuila Blakely.
Astarons: Mutiny in the Solar System is a comic for readers aged seven plus, intended to help them learn basic astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology. It is a joint project with illustrator Myles Lawford and two physics lecturers from the University of Auckland, Dr Nicholas Rattenbury and Dr JJ Eldridge. All three men were at the launch.
It is the second book in a planned a series of 10, in which eight characters representing each of the major planets battle to save the solar system. Other characters include dwarf planets, asteroids, supernovas, galaxies and black holes.
"Lucan was just born and I was sticking the solar system on his wall [when I came up with the idea for the series]," the Iranian-born beauty told Stuff.
Kirkpatrick's friend, socialite businessman Mark Harrison, said the book was "a fantastic piece of equipment to educate children" which managed to teach them "by stealth".
"As a mother, there is nothing more important than helping children," Kirkpatrick said during her speech.
Kirkpatrick, owns a PR and advertising agency and was formerly married to rich-lister James Kirkpatrick. Joining Kirkpatrick are former model Michelle Blanchard, television presenter/actress Louise Wallace, businesswoman Julia Sloane, Champagne importer Anne Batley Burton and celebrity stylist Angela Stone.
The Real Housewives of Auckland will debut later this month on Bravo New Zealand.
